Ramzi Abed is a respected independent and arthouse film director and producer, who has also, over the years, become a very well-known champion of independent filmmakers as an Acquisitions agent for a number of film distributors. Since 2002, Abed has handled various film acquisitions for renowned genre label and studio, Troma Entertainment, for whom he acquired the critically-acclaimed films, "Beg!" (Official Selection of Sundance and Edinburgh Film Festivals) and "The Seduction of Dr. Fugazzi" (starring Faye Dunaway). Abed has primarily made a name for himself as a cult film director with his popular feature films, "The Devil's Muse" (starring Kristen Kerr, Sarah Scott, Mark Borchardt, Cinque Lee) and the metaphysical mystery, "In A Spiral State" (Ofri Fuchs, Bianca Barnett). Both films were released widely by distributor, Halo 8 Entertainment.
Abed has also worked in practically every facet of production and post-production, having served over the years as everything from a Production Coordinator for TV shows like "Acapulco H.E.A.T." to Executive Producing his own films and other directors' works. Abed recently produced a music video for Norwegian black metal gods, Dimmu Borgir (the song was "The Chosen Legacy"), and just recently directed two music videos for famous electronica/lounge band, Bitter:Sweet, including one video guest starring Serj Tankian from the legendary rock band, System of a Down.
Abed has joined the Hollywood Wizard team to bring new energy and titles to Hollywood Wizard's growing presence in the global film community. His goals are numerous. One of the main ones is acquiring new and groundbreaking films, and focusing on high production values and star-driven films that cross genres. The others are to strengthen the outreach of Hollywood Wizard and its new revolutionary online film marketing and distribution service, Cinesouq.
Abed has been mentioned, interviewed, reviewed, and/or featured in and on many popular magazines and websites including The Hollywood Reporter, LA Weekly, Los Angeles CityBeat, LA.com, MovieMaker, Gothic Beauty, Rue Morgue, Bloody Disgusting, Fangoria, Dread Central, Film Threat, AVN, XBiz, Horror Yearbook, LAist, Indie Slate, V, Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star Telegram, The Stream.tv, and many others.
Abed plans to help independent filmmakers succeed through Cinesouq.
