As a veteran screenwriter and director of the award-winning feature, “Last Train Out,” "Tangerine Sky" is Frank Lopez's first co-production with his son, Orion, under the banner of Los Loco Boys Productions. Always drawn to stories about young people, Frank wrote the story at sea while working as a sailboat delivery skipper. When he showed the script to Orion, they knew they just had to make this film together. Over the course of the summer when Orion was out of school, the Loco Boys set out to make a feature-length motion picture. They found an amazing and talented set of young actors who were just as eager to make something different and meaningful, and together they all traveled to the Mojave Desert to begin principal photography in the midst of a driving sandstorm. Throughout the production, human generosity and universal synchronicity provided access to heretofore inaccessible locations, technicians and craftsmen that all contributed enthusiastically to the making of the movie.
In just the beginning of its festival run, "Tangerine Sky" is quickly gaining attention and winning awards across the country with its unusual story, handsome cast and fantastic music. The soundtrack features some of the most popular artists on the contemporary music scene like: Kottonmouth Kings, OPM featuring Jim Perkins, Big B, B-Side Players, Eyes Set To Kill, Insect Surfers, Judge D, Kingspade, Mower, Paul Bullen, Seaside Prophet featuring Neal Pattman, Sonido Vegetal, Too Rude, and the legendary Icebreaker.
