What moves young, educated people to give up their lives of material security for a spiritual quest that is characterized by uncertainty? Through the Eastern Gate is a documentary about the aspirations, practices, and ways of life of three young Westerners who explore Tantric Yoga (Ronela from Finland), Sufism (Aziz from California), and Tibetan Buddhism (Sister Yeshe from Australia) in their quest for spiritual evolution. Beautifully filmed on location in rural setting of South India, North Indian foothills of the Himalayas, and Turkey.
